According to the RSPCA, there are 7.4 million cats in the UK, and it’s clear we’re a cat-loving nation. As a cat lover, you no doubt want to ensure your feline friend has a long and happy life. Here are five ways to help you do just that…

Brush your cat’s fur regularly

Brushing your cat’s fur is a great way to reduce hairballs which are notorious for making their way into digestive tracts. And while cats are pretty good at cleaning themselves, brushing helps spread natural oils over the skin and coat to help them look and feel great for longer. It’s also a great way to bond with your cat. Experts recommend brushing your cat’s fur every day.

Spay or neuter your cat

Spaying or neutering your cat is the best way to keep them healthy.

Going into heat causes female cats a great deal of discomfort. But by contrast, spaying them helps prevent breast cancer and uterine infections, which are sadly fatal in 90% of cats. Meanwhile, a neutered male cat is less likely to roam too far from home and is more likely to stay safe.

Feed them right

A 2015 article from the Telegraph states that the UK spent over £4 billion on pet food in 2014, and this figure continues to increase. In fact, more cat owners are realising the need for natural ingredients, not just in their own diets, but in their pets’ food, too.

After all, nutrition plays a vital role in feline health. In an earlier article, we talk about how “cats have a natural suppleness when faced with life-threatening situations”. However, by feeding your cat natural foods from suppliers such as Webbox, you’ll be helping them to maintain these natural reflexes and high-energy levels throughout their lives.
