About my blog:
Lylia Rose is my UK lifestyle blog with a money angle. I love to share how I make an income from blogging, but also side hustles online and apps. I write about running a home based business as a self-employed person alongside being a busy mum to two children. I also love to write about healthy living, sustainability and a little about family lifestyle and travel.
My main blogging category is:
How and why did you get into blogging:
I accidentally became a full-time blogger! I had started a business blog originally for my fashion accessories store and this rekindled my love for writing, something I was passionate about as a youngster but had stopped.
I quickly loved to blog and turned my blog from a business blog into a UK lifestyle blog at www.lyliarose.com/blog which took over and is now also my profession!
Earlier this year I also started a second blog at www.healthyvix.com as I am so passionate about healthy living and wanted a place where I could write only about this and niche down a little more on Lylia Rose to focus more on money and home business content.
Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
For Lylia Rose it’s from my lifestyle and things I learn. I love to share the various ways I make a full time living from home each month. I’m always testing new methods and new platforms, so I love to share these with my readers so they can try them too!
I’m always asked how I make money from blogging so I like to share these tips too so others understand how I do it and how they can make money online themselves.
I am super passionate about healthy living and regularly watch documentaries, lectures and read books on the subject, so these inspire me to write about being healthy on my Healthy Vix blog.
If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated blogger, what would they be?
If you love to write and blog, then keep at it! Don’t worry if you don’t find your writing style right away, it can take time. It can also take time to work out what you are most passionate of writing about and even then, that might change as you grow and develop and your lifestyle changes. My main blog was originally a business blog, then a fashion and beauty blog but I wasn’t very passionate about that, so deleted nearly all the blog posts and started a lifestyle blog instead! In the last couple of years it’s started taking a money angle and this is the direction I want to head it. I’ve managed to make my blog into a career for myself even with my indecisiveness and changes! Most of all, remember to enjoy blogging. It’s for you and you can blog however you like!
What has changed most about blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?
When I first started it was more of a hobby and I had no idea about monetising blogs or making a living from it. I blogged without charging for anything for three years and was amazed that I go sent products to review. After a few years, I discovered I could actually make a real income from my blog, collaborate with brands and monetise my content. I think previously blogging was more of a hobby, but in the last couple of years, bloggers have realised they can make money from their blogs and even turn it into a full time career. It’s becoming more well known for this reason and people are starting blogs purely as a business idea, which I’m not sure happened so much before.
What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other:
For image creation I absolutely love Canva. It’s so easy to use, even with no design experience or knowledge, and it saves templates of my designs making creating Pinterest images super quick. For social media sharing, I love to use Social Oomph to create recurring tweets and tweet queues. For Pinterest, I use Tailwind to schedule pins as well as the Tribes to share my content with like-minded bloggers and share theirs in return to reach a wider audience.
Tell us about your greatest blogging achievement to date?
My greatest achievement has been to turn it into a full time income. Once I decided to monetize after three years I quite quickly managed to make a part time income in the first few months. I then really focused on my blog and managed to make a full time income for six months. I was working a part time job at this point and realised I could leave my job to focus even more on my blog. That was 20 months ago and I’ve been able to successfully make a full time living ever since. It’s definitely been a great achievement to be able to work for myself doing something I enjoy.
Where do you hope blogging will take you in the future?
I really hope I am able to continue as I am! I have set up a third travel blog in the last month and I hope to be able to build the content up on this and eventually have three money making blogs of my own. I also write for another blog, so that will be four blogs in total! I just hope I can continue to make my living from blogging for as long as possible.
