About my blog:
I am Nicole Mölders, 56, married, one cat, no kids, a fashion, dance and science enthusiast (professor of atmospheric sciences) from Fairbanks, Alaska. I am the CEO and blogger of High Latitude Style, the author of the fashion and style book How to Dress for Success in Midlife. I strongly believe that having your own style makes you happy, feel great, and confident. It tells the world who you are now! Looking your best in midlife will help you to have success and enjoy life to the fullest. My blog provides the tools (e.g. free online personal style finder, body shape finder, face shape identifier), motivation, tricks and tips as well as countless inspirations to make your goal of personal style achievable. I have loved turning fashion into personal style all my life and I enjoy sharing the art of dressing well with other women.

How and why did you get into blogging:
When I moved from Europe to Alaska, I found myself in the situation to totally change the way I used to dress. Of course, the different climate was one reason. Other reasons were no department stores with high-quality clothes, a new job, a change in lifestyle and food, and a changing body entering midlife.
I hated to become invisible by wearing the same clothes every woman wore in town due to the lack of shopping opportunities for women my age. Being a scientist by education, I first looked for books to teach myself. However, the majority of them were dissatisfying. They just stated wear this with that or buy this not that. Just stating does and don’ts may lead to a stylish outfit. However, the resulting outfit would be sort of a uniform. In a crowd of stylish uniformed midlife women, the individual woman again would be invisible. That’s not what I wanted, and probably not what you want!
It struck me how many women in midlife became invisible because they lost their style and/or they have difficulty to identify what works for them now on their changing body. I started to research and analyze the problems. I learned to shop online and to understand what kind of clothes work and don’t work for mature women, even when the clothes were presented by a twenty-something model. I also figured out why the solutions to the various dressing problems work, and why the don’t won’t do the trick.
Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
Being a scientist I am trained to observe. Thus, looking around, listening to what women say, the weather, anything I see can inspire me.
If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated blogger, what would they be?
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Success isn’t a straight line. On the contrary, it’s a failure here, learning from it, it’s a failure there, learning from it, it’s a failure here, learning from it, on the way in the right direction. It’s a journey. Don’t lose the focus on why you started it to begin with.
What has changed most about blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?
Social media following numbers have become more and more important to brands. With more and more blogs out there, it becomes harder and harder to rank high.
What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other:
I like InLinkz for my weekly Top of the World Style linkup party. For promotional material I love Canva. Over time, I have used PicMonkey, Fotor, and photoshop for editing/cutting photos. Hootsuite and coschedule are great for social media management. MailChimp for the email list. Keyword research, of course, Google, but also ubersuggest. There are various free online tools to compress videos and photos. It’s also important to check for broken links on a regular basis.
Tell us about your greatest blogging achievement to date?
Do “Blogging makes me happy” count? Personally, I like those of my posts the best that combine my background in science with fashion like dressing in a given climate zone, or why clothes release sparks. My post on 101 reasons why to wear heels over 40 went viral.I got really excited when I was nominated for the Best Senior Fashion Blog and for the UK blog awards! This year I became Fohr Top Brand Influencer of April 2018 for an Instagram post in a Soma PJ standing outside. Of course, I got the newbies awards like Liebster Award, Shine On Award, Very Inspiring Blogger Award, Street Style of the Week, etc. that got me excited back in the early days of my blogging. The most challenging achievement was writing my style recipe book How to Dress for Success in Midlife.
Where do you hope blogging will take you in the future?
Modelling. I want to become a senior model for clothing and bras. Seriously.
Another cool dream would be to become the first midlife fashion and style blogger on Dancing with the Stars. Just kidding.
