How and why did you get into blogging:
I got into blogging when my first son was young. I wasn’t happy in my job and I wanted a creative outlet and my own voice. It was a completely crafts-based blog and pretty rubbish to start with.
Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
I have always been inspired by my day to day life. Wanting to bake something good to eat. Cooking healthy food for my family and the desire to make things. As a teacher, I am always learning and love passing on information to others. My current passions are gluten-free food after being diagnosed a coeliac and photography. I am due to start a new photo booth business in my restored vintage caravan next year.
If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated blogger, what would they be?
Don’t compare yourself to others. Take note of what good things they are doing, but do it your own way. Join support groups, watch tutorials and sign up for the free courses. Always be willing to learn and try new things. It shouldn’t be all about the hustle.
What has changed most about blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?
These days everyone seems to be in it for the money. People who started their blogs 5 minutes ago and want a pile of ‘free’ stuff. I love the fact I can make some money from my blog, but I write it because I love doing it.
What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other:
Canva for making my social images.
Socialbee for scheduling
Tweetdeck for looking for new work
Illustrator for design work
Tell us about your greatest blogging achievement to date?
I am happy to be one of the Bosik bloggers and regular make posts for them. I am looking forward to moving into video tutorials in the next year.
Where do you hope blogging will take you in the future?
This year I have managed to make enough money from my blog to allow me to only teach two days a week. I am facing redundancy from my textiles teaching job in January. So I would like to make a go of running my blog full time.
