How and why did you get into blogging:
A recent incident that caused me a lot of heartache actually led me to start blogging and sharing my experiences. I found writing was a great outlet for me to share positive and encouraging stories from my life experiences. I love writing about fitness. My husband and I currently own and operate CrossFit East Oahu. I love sharing my stories about marriage and relationships, family and business entrepreneurship.
Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
My daily adventures. I always felt like adventures can happen daily. I don’t need to take a big trip somewhere to enjoy an adventure. I am a mom of 5 so we get to experience a lot of adventures. I get inspiration from my gym that I run, the people that I meet, my kids and their personal journeys and my own marriage.
If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated blogger, what would they be?
I myself am a newbie. I haven’t been in the industry long enough to even give advice. But, I would say, stick to your passion and write about that. Keep it authentic. Don’t write what you think people want to hear. Write what your heart wants to and you will be found by readers who are moved by your words. The paid opportunities and large following will come but it will take time and effort. So keep plugging along!
What has changed most about blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?
I have only started in December of 2017 so my view and knowledge of the blogging industry is quite narrow. But from what I have learned so far, the blogging community is so very helpful and welcoming. There is so much to learn and life on the internet and blogging is constantly changing so I’ll need to make sure to keep up with the trends. But I am thankful for the amount of knowledge there is about learning to blog and becoming a successful blogger.
What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other:
I use all forms of social media to promote and build my following. These platforms include facebook, Instagram, twitter, google+ and Pinterest. I have yet to spend more time in the latter two but at least my name is out there. I participate in Facebook groups and am currently enrolled in the 30 Day Blogging Fast Track Course hosted by itsalovelylife.com to learn about building and monetizing my blog. That course have provided almost all the information I need including this website. For image creation, I have started to take my own photos and use Canva to create images. I use Constant Contact to reach out to my followers.
Tell us about your greatest blogging achievement to date?
My greatest blogging achievement to date was launching my blog and writing my very first post. It was absolutely thrilling. It was a new found freedom I knew I wanted to pursure.
Where do you hope blogging will take you in the future?
In the future, I hope to blog as a full-time career and be able to partner with other brands that I already love. It would be ideal to be able to get paid to write and share my stories.
