About my blog:
I recently passed my motorbike test and didn’t see any personal experiences of women who had bikes. I decided to blog about my experience getting a licence and the adventures I’ve had on and off the bike since.
I love to travel and I snowboard as well so this also features heavily in my posts.
My main blogging category is:
How and why did you get into blogging:
I wanted to share my story. Motorcycling is still quite uncommon for women and especially black women. I hope to be able to inspire people to get on two wheels and explore the world more.
Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from meeting people out and about. Every time I get on my bike or travel somewhere new, there is always a new story to be told. Whether it’s a story about a person, a place or an experience, I love finding new things to write about and share with my followers.
If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated blogger, what would they be?
I would say stay true to yourself and keep going. If you have an aim, work towards it but never forget why you started blogging in the first place and don’t forget to do what you love.
What has changed most about blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?
I’ve only been blogging for a little while. The most recent big change to be implemented is to do with disclosing adverts on social media posts. There’s nothing wrong with sharing sponsored content but people are savvier now and want to know the truth. I think it’s a good thing.
What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other:
I like Hootsuite to schedule my posts, canva for social media asset creation, Grammarly to check my writing and I keep everything together in my google drive.
Tell us about your greatest blogging achievement to date?
My biggest blogging achievement was getting a media pass to Motorcycle Live 2018. This is one of the biggest motorbike events in the UK with test rides, new bikes, clothing and accessories.
I went to the event in 2017 and wrote a blog about it. When the tickets went on sale in 2018 I posted my review again and I got invited to the show. It was a great experience and I’m so glad I was able to write about it again for my blog.
Where do you hope blogging will take you in the future?
I’d like to inspire more women to get involved in activities such as snowboarding, surfing and motorcycling.
All these hobbies have enriched my life in some way, from making new friends to visiting new places and having new experiences.
I’d love to have my own organisation supporting people as they take their first tentative steps to trying something new.
