We have asked our blogger community to answer a few blogging questions about themselves, with the aim of getting to know them and their blogs a little better. These will be published as a series of blog posts, which we hope will make interesting reading. Carry on reading if you’d like to find out more about the bloggers who are active on Bloggers Required. Please tell us a bit about your blog?
It’s a lifestyle blog where I splurge all the different things I do along with reviews, DIY’s and general interest posts. I also do quite a bit of creative writing which I share on the blog
Q1. How and why did you get into blogging?
After finding myself watching many YouTube videos, I ended up on Zoella’s channel. I watched all her videos and ended up on her blog and loved it. I loved the idea of writing about everything from trips to DIY’s to random posts. After ending up on various different types of blogs, I thought to myself ‘why am I not doing this?’ I love writing and I’d stay awake at night thinking of all the different things I could do posts on and then I bit the bullet and did it. 8 months later and I’m still doing it!
Q2. Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
I often go through baits of writers block and I find looking at different peoples blogs help to get the creative juices flowing. Also, every time I’m doing something, I think ‘can I make this into a post?’ and the majority of the time I can. I think about what I would want to read and then write it.
Q3. If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated blogger, what would they be?
Just do it and write what you know. If it interests you, there is bound to be a group of people out there who think it too. Yes, you might get the internet trolls who want to have a nag but there is also a huge blogging community who are always there to support you, just send them a message (even if you haven’t talked to them before) and 9 times out of 10, they’ll reply. Just remember why you’re doing it…for fun! Go back to the first few posts you ever wrote where you were excited about your new blog but apprehensive, you’re frustration will leave you eventually :)
Q4. What has changed most about blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?
I haven’t been blogging for very long, I’m still a baby, however I think the way you reach your audience has changed. Hashtags are big now and you need to know how to use them effectively to get the views. It’s no good just sending a random tweet out!
Q5. What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other?
I’m just starting to use a blogging planner and oh my god it’s the best thing for posting regularly and keeping on top of everything! I always tweet things and G+ for promotion and I find Bloglovin is a great little tool too to get people to follow you too.
Q6. Do you understand your blog analytics, and how important do you think they are? Please share some best practice.
I really don’t understand blog analytics very well. Having said that, I always like to see where my traffic is coming from and, to me, that’s almost more important than the number of people looking because you can see where people are finding you and can interact more with blogs who’ve mentioned you. I also look at page views on posts to see which posts are more popular so can maximise that.
Q7. Where do you hope blogging will take you in the future?
I hope to grow a little blogging community and carry on writing and hoping people enjoy it! I hope to maybe add a little shop in the next year or so and I’d like to go travelling and write about that.
