We have asked our blogger community to answer a few blogging questions about themselves, with the aim of getting to know them and their blogs a little better. These will be published as a series of blog posts, which we hope will make interesting reading. Carry on reading if you’d like to find out more about the bloggers who are active on Bloggers Required. Please tell us a bit about your blog?
Eye Hate Heels is a fashion blog that provides readers a daily dose of trendy gossip infused with a touch of my personal style.
Q1. How and why did you get into blogging?
After years of family, friends, colleagues and strangers asking my fashion and beauty advice, I finally decided to start a blog. As a style correspondent, I’m very passionate about helping others and serving as an influencer in the fashion and beauty industries. I love taking risks – especially in my fashion choices, and enjoy sharing the funny stories that come along with some of the outfit flops with my readers. Blogging is a great way to connect to an audience you may not have been able to reach otherwise.
Q2. Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
Eye Hate Heels is very much involved in the fashion and entertainment industry. I pull outfit inspiration from red carpet looks, television shows, street style looks I see when traveling – you name it. I also like to include fun, quirky stories about myself that the readers can relate to and hope it keeps them coming back for more.
Q3. If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated blogger, what would they be?
Passion is the key to success.
Q4. What has changed most about blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?
It’s become a lot more competitive – even in the past year and a half, which I love. Even actresses are hopping on the blogging bandwagon. Every time I hear of a new fashion or street style blogger on the scene, I gain more motivation to creatively push myself to success.
Q5. What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other?
I feel like Twitter is such a generic answer, but it’s honestly my favorite go-to for research. I’ve found myself taking to Twitter to gain access to information more so than “googling” something. My favorite site for fashion bloggers to connect is HeartIFB.com – it’s a great way to interact with other aspiring bloggers. A lot of the collaborations I’ve done on my blog have come from this site. Pose is also another one of my favorite apps when it comes to sharing outfits with my readers. I use it as much as I do my Instagram account.
Q6. Do you understand your blog analytics, and how important do you think they are? Please share some best practice.
I think you need to take the analytics with a grain of salt. They’re a great resource to understand what your readers are interested in, but you shouldn’t let them dictate your entire blog.
Q7. Where do you hope blogging will take you in the future?
I would love for blogging to become a full time career. Maybe one day snag a book deal, design a line of chic, comfortable heels?
