YOU can count on ME to personally post at least five {5} days a week and several times on those days as well as do product and brand reviews at least twice a week. In 2014 Keystrokes By Kimberly will become a teaching blog because we are growing beyond measure. We will also a three new blogs. A Lifestyle blog, an Educational blog and a Cause blog.

Q1. How and why did you get into blogging?

I simply LOVE to write and always have. I was the Editor of our yearbooks for high school and college. Friends & family saw my gift early on. For years I have been referred to as their go-ask-lady! I decided to repackage this gift into blogging while dealing with a matter of the heart in 2011. So here I am along with my very symbolic butterflies! I cocooned in isolation from late December 2011 till mid-August 2012 when I found my way out of the darkness. It was a journey like no other. Which is saying a lot as a two time cancer & two time stroke survivor. It became a journey of knowing my worth, relearning the magnitude of my worth, listening to A LOT of Whitney Houston who unfortunately passed during this valley in my life. She meant the world to me on a level not many can understand. It was a Lioness and spiritual connection beyond belief. Like her I did not know my own strength however when I recognized it again…Baby, all I could say was WOW! Most importantly I learned how to FORGIVE myself and give it to God because HE will settle all your debts with anyone and everyone who has wronged you. You may NEVER know my TRUE story however trust me I have one with some strong and interesting chapters. So, I literally and figuratively went from my caterpillar state to the Beautiful Butterfly I am today!
In August of 2012, in celebration of my birthday, I decided to combine my seventeen (Yes, 17) mini blogs into one hence, was born with a tag line of “A Synergy Lifestyle Blog”. Currently, I am holding the fabulous titles of Tweeter-in-Chief, Curatorial Chief of Hashtag, Professional Filter Finder, Reach Director, Operating Facebook Futurist, Pinner Extraordinaire, Chief Officer of Finding Future Foursquare Check-ins, Like Aggregator, Head of Tumbling & Reblogging, Professional Giffer, Social Media Stylist, Communicative Director of Follows & Unfollows and Director of Curating in Instagram Filters & Strategy regarding Keystrokes By Kimberly and I look forward to future Butterflies as key players and awesome guest bloggers. After all Blogger is the new entrepreneur!

Q2. Where do you get your writing inspiration from?

My inspiration comes from so many sources such as music, life, television, vacations, people watching, social media and more. I can turn anything into a nice blog post.

Q3. If you could offer some words of encouragement to a newbie or frustrated blogger, what would they be?

1. Breathe and let go of the desire to be perfect.
2. Attend a webinar or conference once or twice a year.
3. Build a brand and keep the mindset that you are building a brand.
4. Definitely commit to writing and posting at least two to three times.
5. Invest in a camera and use your original photos. No your camera phone will not do.
6. Invest in a domain name and have an email address at that domain name.
7. Participate in a Blogathon Bash at least once a year.
8. Promote your blog no matter how small. It deserves to shine.
9. Select WordPress or a custom site however stay away from Blogger/BlogSpot. They can shut you down without notice or reason.
10. Select your social media handles careful and I would recommend Twitter, Instagram, a Facebook page, Vimeo and Pinterest.
11. Write from your heart. Do not get caught up in being like someone else.
12. Enjoy yourself. This can lead to many open doors!

Q4. What has changed most about blogging culture/the blogging industry since you started?

Lol… everything! This industry is always evolving and you have to decide what is for you and your blog. Some bloggers prefer to reference as storytellers and/or writers because in some circles bloggers are looked at negatively. It seems like a million conferences have been added in just a year. Brands are definitely becoming more blogger friendly and are embracing our voice to the communities they desire to have a presence in.

Q5. What daily tools and platforms do you use in your blogging routine, for research, promotion, sharing and other?

I use different systems or formulas as prefer to call them. I have a daily routine and very flexible blog calendar. I thank goodness for HooteSuite and being able to schedule posts or I would be tied to the computer 24/7/365.

Q6. Do you understand your blog analytics, and how important do you think they are? Please share some best practice.

I recommend using Google Analytics and monitoring your audience closely. I monitor mine twice a week. This helps me know my audience, know works working and to keep my media kit up to date.

Q7. Where do you hope blogging will take you in the future?

Oh the places I will go. Blogging will take me to my next chapters in my life journey. This will provide the platform for traveling, becoming a notable speaker through the USA and aboard and will allow me to publish and eSeries and some best sellers.
