What is the blogging assignment?
Our goal is to make sure parents know they have a choice when it comes to what type of public school experience their child receives. We do this by sharing positive student stories or articles around the benefits of online school. A growing number of families are turning to virtual public high school as a welcome alternative to the traditional brick and mortar school. But for many parents, virtual school is still a mystery.
We would like to offer up the opportunity for bloggers to try out the K¹² curriculum, provide a review of the experience, and dispel any myths people might have about online school. A fun and interactive opportunity to experience what it’s like to return back to school…but without the stress of taking tests, peer-pressure or homework. And this time, it’s sitting behind a computer in the comfort of your home rather than in a traditional brick and mortar setting.
The mandatory requirements include:
– Logging on to the K¹² site as a test user and experiencing the site as if you are a student. We would provide you with the appropriate log-in information. Due to privacy laws, there would not be any interaction with other students online.
– Interviewing a current student who has opted in to the interview on their reasons for participating in the K¹² program, their favorite classes, and how online school supports their learning.
– Interviewing a teacher to learn how online school is different (and similar) to traditional public schools, and what students can expect to get out of the experience.
