Could your home be making you ill?
A new health awareness campaign, ‘My Health My Home’, has been launched in response to evidence that poor air quality inside our homes could be causing us harm.
We are all aware of seasonal allergies such as hay fever, but how many of us are aware of the allergies that can be triggered by the quality of the air inside our homes?
Indoor air pollutants include mould spores and pollutants released by common household items such as cleaning products, aerosols, candles and textiles. Our tightly insulated homes and poor ventilation mean this ‘pollutant soup’ can increase our risk of allergies and other skin and respiratory conditions, particularly as we head into winter.
The My Health My Home Campaign aims to increase awareness of this issue, and provide valuable information plus expert advice on how to improve your own indoor air quality.
