The Children’s Society is a national charity that runs local services, helping children and young people when they are at their most vulnerable and have nowhere left to turn. We also campaign for changes to laws affecting children and young people, to stop the mistakes of the past being repeated in the future. Our supporters around the country fund our services and join our campaigns to show children and young people they are on their side.
What is the blogging assignment?
The assignment is to respond to The Children’s Society’s campaign tackling the huge pressures on teens today in a blog, vlog or even in a social media post.
Our Good Childhood Report 2017 found that fear of crime is the most common problem of all, leaving 2.2 million teenagers more likely to be unhappy. Boys and girls worry about different types of crime happening to them. Money troubles and emotional support at home were other top concerns among teens.
Many need urgent help before problems get worse. But the Government is cutting funding for local services needed to help children deal with these problems. This will have a devastating impact on young people. We’re really worried about the situation so we’re asking the Government for more local funding to help young people before they hit crisis point.
We want to find bloggers who know about the pressures on teens and would like to help. You can make a big difference by talking with your followers, some parents or professionals who work with children, about your thoughts on our campaign.
Perhaps you’re worried about crime in your neighbourhood? Maybe there was a time when your family struggled to pay the bills? As a teen, who did you talk to when you were upset, and did it help? How you choose to explore this topic is up to you.
We ask all bloggers supporting to meet the following requests:
Publish a blog, vlog or micro-blog giving your opinions on the campaign
Ask your followers to join the campaign, linking to our website in relevant blog posts
