We are looking to create a network of regional ambassadors to help raise awareness of Vitamin – our new ecommerce platform designed and built especially for start-ups and SMEs in the food & drink sector.
Some background . . . Jump are a full service marketing & advertising agency based in Edinburgh, but with clients all over the world. We do an awful lot of work in the food & drink sector and love supporting SMEs and start ups whenever we can. (We have been known to work for marshmallows . . . ).
Over recent months we’ve grown increasingly frustrated at the cost of custom websites. We’re not a ridiculously expensive agency, but when we design and build a site there are several weeks of work involved and that comes at a cost. Smaller and start-up businesses often simply don’t have that kind of money and go with using a local web developer with a limited skillset (especially in terms of design usually), a friend/relative who’s “good with computers” or a DIY off the shelf template. The results can be fine, but often they end up with a site they are less than 100% happy with.
It has frustrated us that we couldn’t help people with lower budgets get a fully functional, beautifully designed, “expensive looking” (their words!) website. They’re still spending decent amounts of money on these other solutions, but ending up with something sub-standard. We’ve also heard stories of them then having little or no ability to make updates and amends without incurring additional costs, of being ‘locked in’ to their supplier’s particular platform and so on. We think that’s all wrong.
To cut a long story short we decided to develop our own subscription based multi-site platform. We can now create those ‘expensive looking’ (our clients’ words!) ecommerce sites, with the quality of design and service our clients expect, for as little as £500. Completely custom sites, which would typically be £6,000+ will cost around £2,500-3,000 using our platform. It’s a subscription based service so there is an ongoing monthly charge of £45 which covers use of the platform, updates and improvements, help & support, hosting etc. Clients also have the benefit of access to our broader team . . . even if it’s just to pick our brains . . . on anything from packaging and IP to social media and SEO.
We will be launching the service in September and are looking for pilot businesses for whom we can create custom ecommerce sites for a capped/discounted cost of £1,000 (60%+ discount). All we ask is that we can use the sites as case studies.
What is the blogging assignment?
We’re looking to create a team of regional Ambassadors to raise awareness of Vitamin and this pilot offer in particular.
We’re really just looking for introductions . . . no ‘selling’ as such or even ongoing relationship management . . . and you can do as much or as little as you like. Really what we’re after are just some ears on the ground, tapping into local networks etc. We’d be treating it as a bit of a trial initially (3-6mths), but with a view to a longer term relationship.
Ongoing activity might also include helping to spread awareness of Vitamin businesses, so free samples, visits to farms/smokehouses/production units etc, involvement in product development and so on.

For the ‘trial’ period (3-6 mths) we are proposing a 20% commission on pilot sites, so £200 per business brought on board by the blogger.
Longer term we may look at a more formal arrangement, a combination of ‘retainer’ and commission for example, but we’re happy to discuss and adapt to whatever works for each blogger.
