Sleep, one of the most important actions that our bodies need on a daily basis to function at optimal levels. As important as food is for the nourishment and functioning of the body, sleep is important to allow certain processes to happen to support the body. As a self-declared insomniac, sleep is very important to me and my overall well-being. I always searching for ways to improve sleep and have a healthy and restful night. It is not easy when you have hectic sleeping patterns but the following tips can help. I will also be sharing a really informative infographic on The secret of healthy sleep below

Four Ways to Improve Sleep

The tips I am about to share are what has worked for me though occasionally I need to change switch them up. The tips might work for you too or they might not, it depends on individual circumstances. Please consult sleep experts and specialists if you’re unsure of anything.

Develop a Routine

One of the most important ways to improve sleep is to set a routine. For some having a routine is not as easy as 1-2-3 but for many creating a routine is paramount to that restful sleep. I work 9-5 and have insomnia so I try to get as much sleep as I possibly can. Setting a routine of when I go to bed has helped me dramatically and has improved my sleep. It is not always possible for me to sleep at 10pm, half the time I sleep at midnight but my body had adjusted.

Include Exercise in your lifestyle

Yes I said exercise, stop groaning at me and listen because this is important. I am not talking of strenuous exercise that will leave you half day though it might be appealing. I am talking exercises that actually can help improve and help you achieve a restful night. For me what has worked is attending Yoga and Body Balance classes 3-4 times a week. I have truly seen the difference in my sleep pattern since I incorporated exercise into my lifestyle
