You are the bows from which your child as living arrows are set forth – Kahlil Gibran.

I can’t believe that the summer holidays is now entering its last week, a whole 6 weeks gone just like that, It makes you realise just how fast the year is going and it makes me feel quite gloomy, I love Christmas, don’t get me wrong but the cold weather sure isn’t my thing!

This week we were determined to make this summer last that little bit longer by taking a trip to the beach. We woke up bright and early that morning, the sun was shining and I was extremely proud that I had actually picked a day where the weather hasn’t let us down – extra mum points for that?

We arrived at Weston-Super-Mare, when the sky looked a little overcast but that wasn’t going to dampen our spirits after all, it was still dry. We made our way down to the beach, set ourselves up, applied sun-cream and whipped our the buckets and spades. No sooner had Shaniah and Ashley finished making their first sand castles did the heavens decide to open – poo! It was about time we headed somewhere for a spot of lunch anyway so we decided to do that and hope that by the time we had all finished the weather might have returned to its sunny self.

The weather didn’t brighten up so we decided to head to the pier and have a couple of goes on the coin machines. After all, you can’t go to the beach and not have a couple of goes on the 2p machines can you?

Shaniah thoroughly enjoyed her time in the arcade, thanks to Uncle Ashley letting her use some of his coins. Even though the weather was a little rubbish, the company more than made up for it. After a quick stop to pick up a bag of fresh ring doughnuts we were ready to head home.

Our next adventure of the week was to our local Toys’R’us store, which had a super special visit from the Dreamworks Trolls tour truck. A lorry that was filled to the brim with goodies and activities for the little ones to enjoy, Shaniah was in her aliment here, she tried some cake decorating and then headed to the colouring station shortly before knocking down the blocks that were nicely stacked up with Trolls cuddly toys on the top. After we picked those up Shaniah was asked if she would like to pop to the Trolls salon where she could have her hair done just like the Trolls, of course she headed straight for it and left the salon with bright pink space buns!
