After you’ve been writing for a while and you discover that you want to start monetizing your blog, in my opinion, sponsored blog posts are probably the way to go. However, you can’t just jump straight into it, there are a couple of things we need to know first, including followers and payments etc.
The first thing you need to know is that when brands seek bloggers to write for them, they usually want bloggers who are somewhat influential. This could mean you need a high number of social followers, whether that means on profiles such as Twitter, Instagram, YouTube or Google Plus. If you have, let’s say 2,000 followers on Twitter and you frequently tweet about a particular brand that you love, your followers will take notice and will probably follow the relevant links. That’s one way brands get their customers and that’s why in my opinion you should ideally try and gain somewhere over 1000 followers. Let’s say only 50% of your followers click the link to a particular store. That’s 500 people if you have 1000 followers. And probably only 10% of that 500 will get interested, that’s 50 people. That could mean about 50 new potential customers to that brand. So do you get why brands would like to work with fans to have a high following amount?
Nevertheless, if you have 20,000 followers but a blog that doesn’t have new, original content, then you aren’t going to get a lot of offers. You need to frequently post and make it as specific as you can unless you’re writing for a particular age. I know that most people on YouTube have an upload routine and it really does pay off. Instead of your followers coming back and checking whether you’ve posted and then getting annoyed that you haven’t uploaded in a while, they know exactly when to check back! You should really consider it. Not only will a routine make you seem more reliable, it gets people more followers too!
Lastly, if you really want to make some money with your blog, you ought to set up a PayPal account. Not only is it easy to receive payments from your blog, but you can also link if with your credit card, so you can transfer money there too! PayPal is great for online shopping and money transactions, so it’s really something you need to think about if you haven’t already. I now I get all my payments via PayPal!
The above are three simple tips on how to get your blog posts sponsored by different brands. One more thing, do not forget to add a highly visible way that the brands can contact you on your site!
