What is Wild Night Out?
If you haven’t heard of it before, Wild Night Out is the ‘UK’s most adventurous fundraiser’ and this year takes place on Saturday 1st July. Now in it’s second year, it’s a great opportunity for friends, families and groups to get together, have fun and, most importantly, get outside. Furthermore, Wild Night Out raises money for two great causes, The Youth Adventure Trust and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Both of these amazing organisations do so much to help young people from all backgrounds to access the outdoors.
So how can you get involved?
Quite easily! All you need to do is plan a night (and day) of adventure on 1st July and get outside. Now obviously not everyone can do an overnight adventure, but it really doesn’t matter. You can tailor your adventure to your own circumstances and do it your own way. It doesn’t have to be anything too challenging, I’m a big fan of microadventures, which is the perfect concept for Wild Night Out. The important thing is that you spend some time outdoors and have some fun. If you have other plans on 1st July, you can even do it on another day.
Here’s a few ideas if you fancy joining in:
Camp in your garden Try something new, it could be kayaking, roller blading or nordic walking, it doesn’t matter as long as you’ve never done it before Get your wellies and go pond dipping Stargazing Watching the sunrise and/or sunset Cook outside Try a new walking route Geocaching Get your kids to plan a route and let them lead the way A themed scavenger hunt
