I was idly sat watching ITV yesterday morning when Good Morning Britain came on and I happened to catch the conversation about abortion and same sex marriage. Their charming guest, Tory MP Jacob Rees-Mogg, stated that he was against abortion even in the cases where women have been raped and incest – well damn! That made me turn the volume up and chase the kids out of the front room!
‘I’m completely opposed to abortion. Life begins at the point of conception,’ he said.
Was I really hearing this in 2017 in my living room, broadcast on ITV! What kind of fuckery is this?! And who is this opinionated man?
He is none other than a potential British Conservative Party leader. Surprisingly, from this century!
Same Sex Marriage
Not content with targeting women who are unfortunate enough to find themselves with unwanted pregnancies, Rees-Mogg continues to flame those participating in same sex marriage! And there was me just starting to warm to the guy! Rees-Mogg is a catholic and a father of six with nuts of steel – or a screw loose!
‘I am a Catholic and I take the teachings of the Catholic Church seriously.
Up until 50 years ago it was illegal to be gay! Prior to that there is a long history of oppression and criminality.
Same sex marriage is a wonderful result and that was only passed in Parliament in 2014 in England and Wales – in other parts of the world it is still illegal to be gay, never mind free to marry the one you love!
If the Pope himself can take embrace gay people, why can’t Jacob Rees-Mogg?
The Abortion Act dates back to 1967 and despite it being a very controversial subject, there were 190,406 abortions carried out in England and Wales in 2016, slightly lower than in 2015 (191,014). That is a lot of women with a choice. Their choice.
Thankfully that choice will not be removed. But do we want someone running the country with such an outdated opinion on such sensitive subjects?
