Our Top SEO Plugin Picks For WordPress

Welcome back to the Bloggers Required blog! Thank you for coming back to read the scoop on our selection of best SEO plugins for WordPress. Our last post gave you an overview of what SEO is, how it can be used to grow your blog and business, and which SEO plugins can do the leg work for you.

Here’s a recap of our top picks:

  •  Yoast SEO
  • SEOPress
  • WordLift
  • The SEO Framework
  • All In One SEO For WordPress
  • SEMRush
  • Ahrefs
  • SEOquake

Today’s blog post is here to give you the full lockdown on these plugins. Grab a cup of tea and a biscuit and get ready to learn all there is to know about plugins that will boost your SEO and grow your blog instantly!

Yoast SEO

In our opinion, YOAST is elite. It’s super easy to understand and use and it is what is used by many brands (including us) when creating posts and pages in WordPress.

The user-friendly aspect means that YOAST is easy to access, no matter your level of expertise. The interface which includes a traffic light system, easy prompts, and great ideas to improve your SEO score makes optimisations easy and fun.

YOAST is unique in that it also offers a full website that is a hub of SEO tips, tricks, and advice. Their own blog is a haven of ideas for SEO enthusiasts of all levels.

This plugin in particular breaks SEO down into simple, viewable and actionable elements. You can optimise a 1000 word post in seconds by just actioning a few areas of focus.

We particularly love the focus keyword options. Having the ability to see why a post isn’t fully optimised – whether that be due to a passive voice, formatting, or sentence structure means that changes can be made effortlessly.

If you don’t mind paying for extra helpful upgrades, SEOPress is for you. This plugin is a one-stop-shop for the management of all of your meta tags, titles, blog titles, tags, and keywords. Great if you need to optimise them in one place once your posts have been created.

It is also integrated with some Google Analytics data to help show you which pages are getting the right kind of traffic and highlight areas for improvement.

SEOPress, in our opinion, may be more suited to someone who has some coding, HTML, and development experience. It can become very bespoke to each user but also easy to fall down a rabbit hole.

One for advanced SEO lovers, WordLift uses AI to help you optimise your blog from top to bottom.

Created to help you organise your content before helping you optimise, it’s an organised person’s dream plugin.

Unfortunately, WordLift is not free to use on your blog. It would be a real investment and a way to fast-track the optimisation of legacy posts and data. The features are great but you’ll pay a premium for them.

The SEO Framework

On the flip side, The SEO Framework won’t charge you, is ad-free, and is lightweight for your SEO top-level needs.

Their priority is site speed – a huge factor for SEO. While it might not be as pretty or user-friendly as some of the other plugins in this list, it packs a punch!

Many WordPress marketers and content creators class this plugin as a match to YOAST – without the bells and whistles. It is similar with its sliding scale of colours to show you how close you are to nailing your on-page optimisation.</p>

We rate The SEO Framework is ideal for novices and beginners. It would even work for those bloggers who want to create content and optimise it quickly so that they can focus on other areas of their business.
